Team Rules

Lodging & Meals

  • If you are staying in a room that the team provides, it is mandatory that you keep your room neat and orderly. This rule applies to any housing provided by the team.
  • No pets are allowed in player housing (hotels or house).
  • Noise in the hotels and rooms must be kept at a minimum to respect to other players and guests.
  • Players are expected to abide by all hotel/restaurant rules at all times.
  • No overnight guests are allowed in player housing without prior consent from the head coach.
  • Weapons and illegal drugs are NOT allowed to be in your possession at any time.
  • Proper attire is required in public areas of hotels or dining areas - shorts, shirt, shoes or sandals.
  • Attendance at team meals is mandatory, unless told otherwise by the head coach.

General Rules

  • Be on time for meetings, practices, games and other team activities. If you are going to be late, call your position coach prior to the start of the event.
  • Players who get in trouble with the law will be subject to potential suspension or dismissal from the team at the discretion of the head coach and/or owner, depending on circumstances.
  • Players will cooperate with all support staff, including trainers, equipment managers, and front office personnel. We are all on the same team and everyone is to be treated with respect at all times. Remember the Golden Rule.
  • No smoking in the locker room, bus, hotels, or team-provided housing.
  • Do not loan money to or borrow from teammates or coaches. You do not want to be in a position where you owe or are owed money. It will only create conflict and affect team chemistry.
  • No alcoholic beverages in the locker room, unless provided by the team.
  • The Sioux City Bandits organization has ZERO TOLERANCE for players caught with or using illegal drugs - NO EXCEPTIONS. Players are subject to random drug tests at the discretion of the head coach and/or owner.
  • Players will be required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the departure of the bus for road games - failure to do so may result in corrective action at the head coach’s discretion.
  • Players are to report injuries to the trainer as soon as they occur. Hiding an injury is not good for you or the team.
  • All players are to attend treatment and doctor appointments on time and as scheduled.
  • DO NOT miss doctor appointments.
  • You represent the Sioux City Bandits. Your actions reflect on your teammates, coaching staff, owners, staff, fans and anyone at all associated with the organization. When in doubt about what to do, ask yourself whether or not your actions would reflect positively or negatively on the organization.
  • There are circumstances that will happen and things that will be said behind closed doors away from the fans and media. These matters are not to be shared with anyone outside of the team. What happens in the locker room stays in the locker room.
  • Use of the “N” word will not be tolerated.

Practice Rules

  • We will treat our practice facilities and the people who work there with respect; we will leave the facilities better than we found them.
  • We will practice like professionals - prepared, on task, and intense. Missing practice will not be tolerated unless excused by the head coach.
  • Unexcused absences or tardiness will result in corrective action.
  • Injured players are expected to attend practice as normally scheduled unless excused by the head coach.
  • In-season practice will normally be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 - 10pm. We will watch film during that time period as well. Players with equipment or injury needs should arrive early to address those needs. Players that are late or fail to attend film sessions or practice will be reprimanded at the head coach’s discretion.

Social Media

  • Do not be an idiot.
  • No tweeting, texting, or Facebooking during games or at halftime.
  • Stay off the message boards.
  • Do not respond to the taunts, trash talk of players from other organizations, etc.

Celebrations and Miscellaneous

  • There will be NO TOLERANCE for synchronized or excessive celebrations.
  • Players WILL NOT go on the field to grab t-shirts, footballs, or other fan souvenirs to toss to the crowd.
  • Any and all infractions are subject to fines to be determined by coaching staff.

Game Uniform

  • Only equipment provided by the team or inspected by equipment manager may be worn during practices or at games.
  • All players will wear either Red, Black, Grey, or White shoes. No off uniform colors will be allowed.
  • Only socks provided by the team will be worn. No colored socks over the ones we give you.
  • All players spat must be the same color. Team captains can decide Wednesday at practice and let the team know what color to get. Black tape will be provided, other colors will need to be purchased on your own.
  • All pads are to be worn this year (knee and thigh) per league rules.
  • It is called a UNIFORM for a reason. EVERYONE is to look the same, we are not a semi-pro team and we will not tolerate that stuff.
